Greg Singer, 2004
My ‘Keychain Viewers’ began as a 35mm slide show project
Carousel slide trays of 80 B/W drawings were projected with music on screen in theater presentations. The slide images are abstract drawings . . . reminiscent of opening movie titles of the 1930-1940’s Hollywood cinema. Duplicate slides (approx. 100+) became ‘Keychain Viewers’
The process of slide production entailed the following steps . . .
Small quick sketched drawings using ‘Pen & Ink’ with graphite stick on paper
Selected works where then scanned & reduced to BW high contrast prints on photo paper
These works were photographed with 35mm BW Kodak Kodalith Orthographic film using the copy stand method
Slide production provided by Doogle Digital
Each drawing became a separate & individual BW slide
Each slide is then placed within a plastic viewer
A beaded pull chain with a signed & dated tag is attached to each piece
Resulting in . . . ‘One Eye Shows’ that are an eye full
